First sold in February 1982, the Soarer was Toyotas first luxury personal car, and enjoyed great success with its long nose, short deck design, high performance 6-cylinder engine and really advanced electronics for its day. That June, the VR-Turbo grade model was added, offering drivers a four-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel independent suspension and more.
